Dry Eye Therapy
Dry eyes can be extremely irritating and should not be left untreated. This is caused by your eye’s inability to produce and maintain tears.
Common symptoms of dry eyes include:
- Stinging, burning, or scratchy feeling in your eyes
- Mucus in or around your eyes
- Sensitivity to light
- Redness
- Watery eyes
- Difficulty wearing contact lenses
- Blurred vision
At SaveSight, we provide our patients with dry eye products, such as lubricating eye drops and over-the-counter products for long-lasting eye relief. As well, we offer Dry Eye Assessments and Intense Pulsed Light Therapy. (IPL)
We determine the type of dry eye you have using the IDRA comprehensive diagnostic system. This allows us to treat your dry eyes in an individual, specific manner.
Lumenis Optima IPL is a revolutionary treatment for inflammatory eye conditions including dry eye.
Book a dry eye assessment today to see if IPL is right for you.
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is an in-office, non-invasive treatment for dry eye specifically caused by inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). The procedure involves using a handheld device that is applied to the area around the eyelids. Pulses of light are emitted to reduce inflammation around the eyes and to gently warm the oil that can become clogged within the meibomian glands (or oil-producing glands) so that it can be expressed.
Eye Nutrition
As you age, your eyes become more susceptible to issues. To help protect your eyes, we offer our patients AREDS formulated multivitamins. Similar to other multivitamins you’d take for your health, AREDS vitamins are designed to maintain your eye health.
Laser Eye Surgery Co-Management
Laser eye surgery can relieve you from having to rely heavily on your glasses or contacts. Our practice refers patients to Grey Bruce LASIK in Owen Sound.
LASIK is performed to treat myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, all issues we check for during eye exams. Although we do not perform laser eye surgery ourselves, we provide pre-procedure consultations and post-operative care for patients.
Grey Bruce LASIK provides a service that is personalized on your individual vision dynamics. Using top-of-the-line technology, they use an ultra-precise Intralase Femtosecond Laser (the safest way to perform LASIK).
Retinal Photography
Our state-of-the-art computer-assisted digital retinal camera allows us to examine your retina. The retina is the lining at the back of your eye that receives light and converts it into images sent to your brain.
As you age, retinal photography becomes invaluable as we use it to check for age-related conditions, such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. This test is especially important if your vision has changed recently. These recent changes could be a result of more serious issues.
Optic Nerve Scanning
Optic nerve scanning is an early detection method our team uses to diagnose glaucoma. If undetected, the damage created by glaucoma can cause vision loss and blindness.
By scanning the optic nerve, we can see the structural changes before your vision is affected. Oftentimes your vision will not change for several years, even though the structure of your optic never has changed. This early detection allows our team to diagnose and recommend treatment right away.
